Z-Tip v. Light Cured Acrylic Tips

Light Cured Acrylic Tips are another traditional type of protective brush tip.  They are made by dipping the end of a twisted wire brush into plastic or acrylic and using ultraviolet light to cure the substance into a tip.  Defects can include:

  • Protrusion:  The core wire can protrude through the acrylic surface which may cause scratching, poking and scarring.
  • Rough surface:  The surface texture might be rough.
  • Inconsistency:  Tip dimensions can be inconsistent.
  • Petroleum-based:  The manufacturing process involves hazardous fumes, extended curing times and is petroleum-based.

The Z-Tip corrects these defects, because:

  • The Z-Tip surface is smoother, stronger and safer than the acrylic surface.
  • The Z-Tip is formed by actually melting the end of the twisted wire and reforming it into the tip which makes core wire protrusion impossible.
  • With our automated inline manufacturing process, dimensions are the same every time.
  • No petroleum is used in making the Z-Tip other than powering the equipment.
